Time to Go

Saying goodbye to the most interesting, intellectual and wise bloggers who I’ve been blessed to know. You all have been kind to me and others. No set date so will happen soon.

Will likely keep my Twitter feed alive under theMMMW for awhile.

Hope to be moving to southwestern Connecticut in the next 18 months from north Texas. Friends and family in the NYC metro area.

Thank you,

Leslie Elizabeth David.

Life

Life has been a bit crazy because my new part time job isn’t working out too well. Being different than the majority is never easy.

The big issue was is that I was trained verbally on how to run a computerized cash register without notes then, five days later, I wished I had some documents to guide me through.

Also, five days later, I felt snubbed at work. Most of my coworkers and the store manager were rude to me. Maybe, my honesty set them off but I did it with kindness.

So, today, I’ve been job hunting and thinking about returning my items on Friday. Was promised 21 hours weekly about now only covering those who take time off.

Oddly enough, I planned to return my stuff when my cat broke a company branded coffee mug that I got from Poshmark. Strong sense to leave.

Time will tell.

The Sacrifices of Moving

What sacrifices have you made in life?

As we all have made sacrifices in life for various reasons of something or someone that and who is valued to us, I will share mine.

My biggest sacrifice was moving to north Texas from west Michigan to find constant employment after losing my job of 21 years. I gave up seeing my friends and family in person because of the distance.

My second sacrifice of leaving friends and family is when my parents decided that my siblings, I and them to leave metro Detroit to northern Michigan. I was distanced from friends who accepted me to strangers who labeled me then judged me primarily from my grade/class. Four years of challenges.

My sacrifices of moving have been both challenging and rewarding that tested my Faith, my relationships and even my ability to survive when life changes out of my favor.

As I consider a move to the Long Island Sound region/NYC metro area, I’ll be closer to family both immediate and distant members. But, not any close friends in the area. 1692 miles of leaving the plains of north Texas to the shores of the Long Island Sound of sacrifice.

Break Time

As a new chapter and a new job starts soon, I have decided to take a break from blogging.

My writing quality has dropped which needs work plus as I consider a move out of north Texas to central Connecticut not far from 115-Merritt Parkway.

After quitting my job after the B&E from my former supervisor and former employer, my trust has dropped with people. Need time to heal and to trust again.

Thanks,

Leslie Elizabeth David.

Two Golden Friends

Share a story about someone who had a positive impact on your life.

Since I lost my job in January and experienced the most unusual work episode at the mega retailer, I have been blessed with two friends who helped me get through it in a positive impact. My two friends are golden.

Wendy who’s originally from VT and who grew up on a dairy farm came to MI where I met at work. We instantly connected. She’s honest and straight with me while being positive. She eventually became my supervisor which we’d laugh in her office. I was passed up because of my connection to the CEO of a shared birthday and friendship. During the episode at work, she offered emotional support.

Met another friend through the same former employer but as the now ex husband has become my friend over the years. She moved to Florida with her family and he stayed in Michigan. During my recent experience, he offered logical and common sense while it was happening plus input on the specific store in the area it was built in. Kevin. There’s times though that we have our differences that causes disruptions in our relationship.

Blessed and grateful.

Freedom Isn’t Free

What does freedom mean to you?

“Freedom isn’t free” is an understatement to say the least, it costs lots of money and even life to attain. Like most immigrants, my family left a horrible situation in Eastern Europe and risked everything to come to the US like thousands of others.

My heritage is Hungarian Gypsy so I have dark blue eyes and dark complexion skin being third generation. My family mainly settled in NYC and Detroit metro areas where others like me went. We arrived during WWI when the Industrial Revolution in the States began. I grew up on Goulash and Chicken Paprikas that is hearty for cold harsh winters like the northern States and Eastern Europe.

During a Queen tour, the band went to the infamous restaurant, Hungarian Rhapsody, in Allen Park/Detroit after a concert. Freddie Mercury knew the owners and some of the staff through connections through Budapest.

“Freedom isn’t free,” is about risking lives to come to the States where citizens can vote freely for who they want representing them in office locally, regionally (State) and nationally. Plus, freedom to purchase goods and services that aren’t State controlled. Freedom should never be taken for granted and be fought to preserve. The Statue of Liberty is more than a material monument but a true symbol of freedom backed by the Constitution.

The above is my story which is likely different than yours. No judgement.

Philadelphia Freedom by Elton John

What does freedom mean to you?

I used to be a rolling stone you know
If a cause was right
I’d leave to find the answer on the road
I used to be a heart beating for someone
But the times have changed
The less I say the more my work gets done

‘Cause I live and breathe this Philadelphia freedom
From the day that I was born I’ve waved the flag
Philadelphia freedom took me knee high to a man, yeah
Gave me a piece of mind my daddy never had

Oh Philadelphia freedom, shine on me, I love you
Shine the light, through the eyes of the ones left behind
Shine the light, shine the light
Shine the light, won’t you shine the light
Philadelphia freedom, I love you, yes I do

If you choose to you can live your life alone
Some people choose the city (some people the city)
Some others choose the good old family home (some others choose a good old)
I like living easy without family ties (living easy)
Till the whippoorwill of freedom zapped me
Right between the eyes

‘Cause I live and breathe this Philadelphia freedom
From the day that I was born I’ve waved the flag
Philadelphia freedom took me knee high to a man
Mm mm, gave me a piece of mind my daddy never had

Oh Philadelphia freedom, shine on me, I love you
Shine the light, through the eyes of the ones left behind
Shine the light, shine the light
Shine the light, won’t you shine the light
Philadelphia freedom, I love you, yes I do

Oh, Philadelphia freedom, shine on me, I love you
Shine the light, through the eyes of the ones left behind
Shine the light, shine the light
Shine the light, won’t you shine the light
Philadelphia freedom, I love,
You know I love , you know I love you
Yes I do, Philadelphia freedom
I love you
Yes I do, Philadelphia freedom
You know that I love you
Yes I do, Philadelphia freedom
Don’t you know that I love you
Yes I do, Philadelphia freedom
Don’t you know that I love you
Yes I do, Philadelphia freedom

My Professional Life

What is your career plan?

My professional life only had a “career plan” during pivotal times such as graduation for both under grad and graduate degrees, losing my job of 21 years and recently after seven years.

Being recently retired and needing to work only part time, I have found time to be here and more for my online closet which has had a dramatic increase in sales thus adding new old inventory in original packaging and with tags.

My newest part time job is in housewares in a better area that I’m excited to start despite my previous which involved a Lead who didn’t understand company protocol and policies plus didn’t think twice to a B&E in my home. Then her girl gang showed up who my neighbors called on. Myself, I called them twice once after the break in and then after her second attempt but deadbolt was in use.

My sister and my younger brothers all worked for primarily the same employer most of their lives. All three did well financially from stable work. My older brother has been in hospitality who jumped around from MI to Aspen CO to Houston TX and back to MI as a bartender, server and chef.

In closing, I earned a paycheck while my older brother who worked in a field that he loved. Hopefully, one can find both.
