What is your favorite holiday? Why is it your favorite?
Being born on the winter solstice on December 21 so close to Christmas, I have learned to love Holidays opposite of those at year end. The 4th represents the strength and the character of the US.
The 4th of July celebrates our day of independence but it also represents the freedoms that we have as well that shouldn’t be taken for granted. My family arrived during WW1 to escape the dangers of my ancestors homeland for safety and opportunity.
For many Americans, they get extended Holiday time off from work especially the auto industry when change over to the next model year begins. For my ex husband, it meant the last time to breathe before the craziness begins.
Myself, the Holiday represents freedom that my family has found in the States years ago plus I found time myself to celebrate by riding my bike on the trails in west Michigan. Freedom of being on the path without worry and feeling the sun on my face with a gentle breeze was the gift of independence for me.
The 4th of July is a day of gratitude for freedom.
