What makes you feel nostalgic?
As we end 2025 in all the time zones all over the world, many media networks in the United States are airing what events this past year that were significant to Americans. The time to look back and review of what we did great, good and things we can learn from to do better next year.
Truthfully, the closer the experience creates the bigger impact and more significant to the individuals involved.
For me, I looked back on a trip to Connecticut window shopping for my future residence in Milford or Stafford that are both beautiful towns on the Long Island Sound and accessible off of Interstate 95. On this trip, I miscalculated the cost and the budget which I wasn’t able to fix until I got back to Texas. My mistake was not focusing on my finances before the trip. My trip went from great to horrible in a matter of minutes. A rare time that I was actually looking forward to my vacation to end. Got home to slow down and to correct my mistakes.
Since then, I decided to donate my remaining inventory on my online closet to benefit the local charities. Ongoing project that might last until 2027. Take back a room after a major day of reorganization in my home afterwards. Also, God placed it on my heart to contributor of essays to the New York Times that’s a work in progress plus I would like to write for the Detroit Free Press as well.
After my trip to Connecticut, God shot down my move there flatly and to move back to northern Michigan where I went to high school to make things better than how I left them years ago. My motivation started me to start communicating to those who I hurt. Pain lingers from memory and unresolved issues. Truthfully, being present physically and emotionally will help the most.
Now, your year in review. Time to sit back and look back of the memories of the past twelve months of the good, the bad and the ugly to learn what you did awesome, not so great and awful so you can make better decisions based on experience. Don’t be hard on yourself though because the first full week is January 5th. Buckle up and hold on tight for the next 12 months of life.
Happy New Year!
