Fire

What is one word that describes you?

Being born under the sign of Sagittarius on the cusp of Capricorn, I’m definitely the typical one with the “fire” traits like Aries and Leo.

To save, energy and BS, I tell the truth no matter if initially that I look bad. Yet, I’m not afraid to admit my mistakes.

In addition, as with others born in December between Thanksgiving and Christmas, I am independent, adventurous and optimistic even in times of doubt.

Yes, I’m far from perfect because I am impatient, tactless, detached and sometimes promises too much.

With all the above, I have gained wisdom that I have learned to trust my intuition and to think it over.

Some people who are aware have called me the title of this writing being unaware of my December 21st birthday.

Leslie Elizabeth David.

Resilient

What was the best compliment you’ve received?

Resilient describes the ongoing strength needed to get through the hours and the days filled with expectations and let downs with some joy and thankfulness sprinkled in.

My friends whom I’ve known forever who support me on Facebook remind me on my ongoing strength and resilience to get through life’s unexpected bumps in the road.

Truthfully, I need to rest emotionally of knowing that my financial house is in order. Walmart is a temporary solution that might get me and my cats home, I hope.

Resilient the word of continued strength while experiencing ongoing adversity. May yours not be overwhelming but manageable.

“You Can Go Your Own Way”

You’re going on a cross-country trip. Airplane, train, bus, car, or bike?

The title of the above famous Fleetwood Mac song refers you need to find your own way in life plus traveling by your mode.

In my lifetime, I have traveled across the US twice even once to Hawaii. One trip was a flight from DTW to LAX non stop when I was very young. Later on, my parents made the crazy decision to drive out west from Michigan to CA taking the northern route there and the southern one back.

To date, I’ve seen most of the US, Canada and Mexico because my parents wanted to show us that the world is bigger than the island which we were living near the international border of Canada and south of Detroit.

Thought that I was moving north of NYC so I flew out there a few times. Took a chartered bus once or twice to a camp up north. Have considered Amtrak as well for price and for comfort but there were many stops in Chicago.

As far as bikes are concerned, I’ve rode around the infamous Mackinac Island, White Pine Trail in Michigan plus the local bike trails in the mid cities region of the DFW metroplex. Plus, the bike trails along Lake Michigan in Grand Haven and Holland with rode biking in northern Michigan.

In previous writings, I had considered moving to the NYC suburbs in Connecticut that involved rental cars, airplanes and trains at Charlotte Douglas airport.

“The Confidence of a Three Year Old“

Who is the most confident person you know?

We all heard the saying above regarding confidence to take a huge risk. As we grow older and maybe wiser, the confidence decreases as far as financial and life risks.

The person who is the most confident that I know is my only sister. Her risks are calculated with hard facts and thoughtful with soft ones involving friends and family. Cindy has been blessed with a long term career in investment which she retired from and a lasting marriage with a daughter who’s in college. Her confidence like a three year old on the surface is much more.

Next time, you see a three year child running around in complete confidence and no fear, I hope you give yourself the opportunity to do the same or spend time with the energetic carefree toddler to witness yourself.

Lost in Space

What activities do you lose yourself in?

Activities that make one lose oneself only to see what time it is then one realizes how much time spent on something one loves. Lost in one’s favorite space and time.

For myself, I love watching vintage crime plus I love driving in my car with no direction with no care of time and I love going for walks. Planning an adventure and then getting to the destination are all things that I get lose myself in.

To the workaholics, once you start giving up the things you love to a company or a department that will terminate your employment because of loss of profits or because of being there too long, you realize that you missed times of living life to the fullest. Life is more than work.

Being “Lost in Space” is losing yourself in your favorite space doing what you love.

Bad Energy

What strategies do you use to cope with negative feelings?

Since we’re all imperfect living in a world that’s far from perfect, negative feelings and/or bad energy is a part of life.

I believe that, in part, the good of life outweighs the bad plus the bad teaches us not to take the good for granted.

Normally, my cope mechanisms for working through the negative and bad energy are walking, sleeping, eating and praying. Usually one is in a negative balance when I have a bad attitude.

For example, I got a new part time job that I’m on my feet all day with a well known retailer that my hours are closer to full rather than the traditional 20 hours. After hours of being on my feet, my attitude started swaying because of being tired. I started feeling better when my department got ahead of our work. At the end, I had an unplanned break that helped.

Today, I am resting and staying off of my feet for tomorrow and knowing I have mid week days off. Gratitude.

Agatha Christie

What movies or TV series have you watched more than 5 times?

Agatha Christie is one of the most prolific writers posthumous in history for murder mysteries. Her influence is seen in many television movies and series on both sides of the pond. So, I’ve watched her creations numerous times plus those that are similar.

First of all, Ms. Christie’s books that were Miss Marple and Poirot are her two prominent characters. Plus, movies like ,”Ten Little Indians,” and, “The House Cracked,” are based on some of her most popular books.

Secondly, “Murder, She Wrote,” starring Angela Lansbury posthumous although have been aired on Tubi and Hallmark based as an American Miss Marple. Christie’s estate gave her permission because of similarities of Marple to Fletcher.

In addition, there’s numerous television and movies that are similar but different enough that don’t require permission from Christie’s estate like, “Father Brown” or, “Sister Boniface” and many others. “My Life is Murder” with Lucy Lawless filmed in New Zealand as a TV series that might fall into the category now.

Truthfully, I started watching Christie’s books made into television series or movies because I was tired of the Hallmark networks movie themes of love and romance. I believe that the former rather than the latter are more realistic.

Interested in learning more about the author and her influence. Please share.

“Very Superstitious Writing on the Walls…”

Are you superstitious?

“Superstition”written by Stevie Wonder, the movie “Friday the 13th,” and myths about owning a black cat plus stepping on the line on sidewalks are all about believing in things that are superstitious.

Truthfully, I’m thankful that I don’t believe in superstitions. In my younger years, I heard stories about ghosts in old homes. For a while, I wasted time in astrology as well right after my divorce. Plus, I have had three black cats who were blessings in my life and not bad luck.

As the songs says, “ if you believe in things that you don’t understand, then you suffer, superstition ain’t the way.”

My Spirit Animal

Which animal would you compare yourself to and why?

My spirit animal that I can mostly compare myself to is a cat. With years of casual ongoing research, I can relate to my fur baby felines.

My cats and I both love naps and love treats. They rescued me and I did them as well although their situation was more dire. Cats are extremely intelligent although I have a graduate degree, my logic and reasoning shadows them. My cats have taught me well to move physically quickly quietly and to act on instinct. Admittedly, I have shocked a few people doing this which I praised my fur babies as being my inspiration. In addition, we both have a difficulty in trusting others we both act cautiously emotionally and physically. All three of us understand pain yet understand recovery because we are there for each other.

Blessed to be sharing my life with these beautiful creatures who I easily trust over humans with different felines over my lifetime, they each individually taught me something. Proud to be glistening in fur. My spirit animal is a feline.

Making Lemonade out of Lemons

Do you believe in fate/destiny?

Fate is something that happens and destiny is something that one chooses per Google search. For example, my fate is that I loss my job with difficulty finding employment in a tough job market. Destiny is that my cats and I are selling out and leaving Texas.

Out of preventing inevitable foreclosure, my realtor is drawing up a respectful offer so she can buy the property and use it as rental income and I can use the funds to buy a small mobile home in northern Michigan. My cats safety is most important. Grateful for my realtor.

Having panic attacks have been constant since I lost my job and crying about things that I have no control over.

The funny thing is that I was already considering a move back up north and I was already looking at property.

So, me and my babies hopefully will be able to start a new life with some money in our pockets way up north even find work to cover expenses. Grateful to a lifetime friend who sent me money so that will be used towards moving or next house payment.

Bella, Luna and I are making lemonade out of the lemons handed to us. It’s a hard decision to move under these circumstances. Prayers appreciated.

Thank you,

Leslie Elizabeth David.
