Certainty of 10
In life, I have learned a few things that certain.
- What goes up must come down.
- The sun will come out tomorrow although you may not see it. The light comes after darkness in the night and in some situations.
- Death is certain after life is given as a gift.
- God does exist.
6. Change is certain because life isn’t stagnant.
7. The truth always comes out.
8. No one is perfect. Human.
9. Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall.
10. Taxes. Government gets part of your salary, your home and your car.
In closing, I know these things to be true.
Life is an Adventure.
Believe that life is an adventure in itself so if one chooses to seek security with all the money and resources to get it and maintain it or seek the unknown because life is worth living of experiencing the excitement of all the beautiful people to meet, places to visit and things to do on this planet, I choose the latter.
Being born premature and was told that I wouldn’t be able to do a lot of things that gave me the fuel to live life to the fullest. In my young 63 years of life, I have been to most of the United States, Canada and Mexico. We don’t know how much time that we have here so I believe in living it to the fullest.
Truthfully, I have experienced more Texas than the majority of Texans who I have met. First couple of years, I traveled to Palo Duro Canyon, the Hill Country, Dallas, Austin and Houston then later to Lake Charles Louisiana and Oklahoma City. Each trip was an adventure of seeing new places, meeting new people and enjoying delicious foods.
Now that I’m considering a move to New England area, I’ve been there a couple of times and have experienced traveling from Hartford to Norwalk CT than drove to Providence RI and turned around in Attleboro MA where I could see the skyline of Boston. Next trip will be more local adventures of walking to an island from the mainland at low tide and getting the feel of some areas that I’m thinking about moving to. Confession, I used to be afraid to fly on an airplane for most of my life until I had to make a choice to stay home or to be brave to experience something new. I finally chose the latter and haven’t looked back since.
Truthfully, I understand why security is the most important thing when it wasn’t there when you needed it growing up. No matter how much you plan or put measures in place to ensure your security in keeping your job and staying in your home, there’s always a risk of life in life of losing it all. One cannot plan for everything that might happen because no one knows what the future holds.
We all have been given one life to live so live it to the fullest by getting out of your comfort zone.
Enjoy Your Journey,
Leslie Elizabeth David.
Fur Invitation Only
Truthfully, outside of my friends who I have known since kindergarten and who I have kept in touch with Facebook where we keep it casual and light, I would invite all of my feline babies past and present to dinner.
My babies would include SueSue (Sukiyaki), Adrian, Seville, Madrid, Bella and Luna. SueSue purebred Siamese seal point who was extremely small in size but who lived for 21 plus years. Adrian a black Siamese who lived for a long time who was adopted when I was married adopted from a local farmer. He was my rock during my divorce. Seville and Madrid who were adopted from a humane society in west Michigan where both parents were barn cats. Maine Coone Burmese. The father got three females pregnant so simultaneously 60 plus kittens were born. The farmer needed help and wanted to do the right thing by giving these newborns a good home. They were more Burmese than Siamese like Adrian. They screened the men who I dated and only the few who I allowed them to meet. They both passed after moving to Texas where Seville was with me for the longest. Before my trip back to Michigan, my coworker who thought that I wouldn’t come back to Texas with good reasons, she found some “kittens” who happened to be available about the time of my trip. I met them before my trip and bought them home afterwards. Time revealed that they were nine months old, female, underfed and abused and Tabby Burmese. Bella and Luna spent time at a veterinary clinic for shots and observation. They came home and grew to their adult size within weeks while eating through a few bags of cat food. Immediately following, they both went into heat.
Above would be a family reunion dinner with all of my babies who would enjoy some fresh tuna, fresh spring water and lots of treats plus lots of love from me.
May sound unusual to some people unless you’re a parent to a fur baby. My love has never ended for each of them.
Thanks again,
Leslie Elizabeth David
Changes as We Age
Being of mature age myself although I look and act much younger. I believe that somethings get better with age. Below are some areas that are from lessons learned.
Wisdom. One sees the world differently because one has lived through it so more understanding of others than before.
Acceptance. One may become more accepting of others than before of realizing no one is perfect and not immune to bad decisions. No one person is better than another.
Forgiveness. Holding a grudge takes a toll on a person mentally and physically so forgiveness is the best medicine to peace of mind either.
Flexibility. Being in tune with your body and mind to be flexible to change your diet and exercise routine.
Maturity. Be happy for others although one didn’t win oneself. Not comparing oneself to others anymore because each of our DNA.
With the internet and technology, I have been able to reacquaint myself to friends who I have known since kindergarten on Facebook where we encourage each other and happy for each other plus pray for each other when needed. We laugh about things that thought was a big deal when we were younger. Someone who recently retired so we shared in her milestone which we celebrated with her and encouraged her on her next chapter. We may not be best friends but we are friends.
Thank you again,
Leslie Elizabeth David.
Senility runs in my family especially on the female side…
Senility runs in my family especially on the female side so I stretch regularly making sure blood flows to my brain. I believe it has made me sharper plus it helps my back too being flat footed. Be safe! Moderation is key. As usual, please check with your physician regarding any exercise or stretching before attempting for your safety and health. Critical to check first.
Comfort Class
Comfort varies from when I was younger to now.
Comfort to me is sitting in my favorite chair with my felines and drinking hot tea watching vintage British crime dramas with a hot bagel smeared with cream cheese.
Comfort to me is sleeping in on a Saturday morning without worrying about work and home chores until later. Comfort is afternoon naps with my feline princesses.
Comfort to me is not caring what others think of me while I focus on my job at work and do what I love at home.
Comfort to me is knowing that you and others are safe and well.
Comfort is knowing that I did what was right although I didn’t benefit and knowing others involved may not have.
Have a comfortable peaceful day!

Approaching Adventure
As much as I am excited for the future, I think that the present and the past are important too. To me, life is an adventure in of itself.
Yesterday, my felines haven’t been to the veterinarian since I had gotten them. They were afraid that they would be left behind like in the past so I stayed with them the whole time. The energy in our vehicle was of fear although I kept saying that they would have treats when we got home. When we got there, I stayed with them the whole time in the lobby and in the treatment room. I left twice to get a beverage and to ask a question. During part of the treatment session, each one left separately for a period of time. They were at peace. On the way home, I sensed that we got over a huge hurdle of trust. Since I got custody of them, I have been with them every single day for over two years now.
In about five weeks, I am traveling to the east coast outside of the NYC area to “window shop” for a decent condo in a safe location. Staying in a different hotel and plan on doing different things since my first two trips. My cats will be a concern so I will be calling daily so that they hear my voice. It’s one of those things that I know will happen but don’t know how much like my move where I live now.
“What am I most excited about for the future?” Is of living a full and complete life with purpose. An adventure.
Thank you,
Leslie Elizabeth David.
“Like to Teach the World to Sing in Perfect Harmony”
Above was the tagline for the prominent Coca Cola commercial during the turbulence of the 1970’s of rioting on numerous issues.
Many people got tired of the rhetoric and decided to let their voices be heard by actions that destroyed many cities. Violence has never been the answer.
What would I let go of for the sake of harmony? The way I handle conflict and/or disagreements. I’m not always right so learning others point of view are beneficial to better understanding. My ego. Get over myself and see the world is bigger than my consciousness.
My thoughts come from experiencing the race riots in Detroit in close proximity to my hometown and my family. Motown Records reacted to it asking for peace through music. The song, “What’s Going On/What’s Happening Brother,” by Marvin Gaye for example.
If you comment, please be respectful to me and others. Thank you.

My Hometown of Motown

My favorite music is old school Motown since I was born across the street from some of the artists and I listened to it primarily growing up.
Marvin Gaye, Diane Ross and The Supremes plus David Ruffin who all came out of the projects. I still listen to them to this day.
Used to see Bob Seger at the Tiger games at the old stadium. A friend of mine who went to school with Madonna.
Motown Records did eventually move to Los Angeles although there’s a museum in Detroit celebrating the mark it made on the world.
Old school Motown is my favorite followed by rock music such as Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith. Saw The Rolling Stones at the Pontiac Silverdome in 1983. Worked for a outdoor music venue so I saw many famous bands like Chicago, Doobie Bros and Def Leppard.
The Soul of Motown and the rush of rock music in my heart!
