Tears of Joy

Daily writing prompt
What brings a tear of joy to your eye?

Today, I feel blessed to share two separate experiences that bought me to tears from joy.

Last night, I did on online silent show to get rid of my items from my online closet. The last time, my mentor/friend was my best and only customer so I was shocked to see her back again. Lately, I haven’t attended her “lives” in a long time because of being busy and trying to save money. She was my only shopper who bought multiple items plus she told me that I was like a sister to her. Teared up when she told me. We have a bond of friendship that is mutual understanding and respect.

This morning, my feline, Bella who sat next to me on the couch cuddling bought me to tears. Two weeks ago, I flew home from New England then I went to pick up Bella and her sister Luna, they acted like they didn’t know me. To me, the trip was a test of trust of them to know that I would be back. This morning when Bella came to cuddle, I believe she was letting me know that she loves and trusts me. Previously, I have shared that I am her and her sister’s human.

Grateful for both experiences from a friend and from my fur babies who have blessed me with their presence. It helps minimize the pain from those who don’t.

Yours Truly,

Leslie Elizabeth David.

Soul Food

Daily writing prompt
Why do you blog?

The primary reason why I blog like many others is that it’s food for the soul.

Blogging allows me to share what’s in my heart, mind and brain as feels like therapy communicating it in writing instead of verbally or physically in drawings.

There’s times when blogging isn’t right because I am not feeling it in my heart and soul so I don’t do anything. Stress and anxiety sometimes messes it up.

Believe that each individual on this planet who has a voice and fortunately there’s numerous ways to communicate what’s in his/her heart and mind. God gives us all gifts to use to feed our soul and hopefully has positive impact on others.

Thank you.

Stronger

Daily writing prompt
How are you feeling right now?

”What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger stand a little taller..” lyrics from the song, “Stronger” by Kelly Clarkson which has become my anthem during challenging times.

My friendship with a person who I met at work in west Michigan who moved there from Vermont to find a husband. Initially, we hit off as friends greatly despite our differences from ethnicity, religion and upbringing. She grew up on a dairy farm while I grew up in the suburbs of Detroit.

At work, she found and eventually a man who she would marry, have 4 children with and then later divorced. Immediately afterwards, she started looking for husband number two which she hasn’t found yet.

My move to west Michigan was to find my own path and a career with maybe meeting someone. I had roommates who were dorm mates in college.

Our problem in our friendship is that she believes that she is smarter and wiser than me instead of equal footing. She encourages me to focus on my online closet because that something that she knows about and discourages me from writing here because no literacy is in her talents.
Truthfully, she’s not pleased with me because of a different opinion of her eldest divorce child who recently remarried and living rent free despite his well paying job. He’s been living rent free since his divorce from wife number one. They want to build a new home off the bat so they are allowed to stay rent free until then. The tip off was the vacant property that they are looking at is 100k. She later ignored me for not supporting her kid’s decision but to build later.

My parents built numerous homes which we never lived rent free. The equity of one home helped to build another. So, I understand the building process and financing.

This is one of those experiences that I will become stronger either by learning something new and admitting that I am wrong or by losing a friend permanently. Relationships are complicated so appreciate no criticism in the comments.

Thank you,

Leslie Elizabeth David.

Yoga

Daily writing prompt
What daily habit do you do that improves your quality of life?

Yoga is my daily habit of stretching my body that helps improve my quality of life.

With Alzheimer’s disease present in my Mom’s life that she got from her mom, I know that if I ignore it then I will get it. With that being said, I regularly do stretching exercises that sends blood flow to my brain.

Many times, I sit on the couch and keep my legs inward then dip my head downward for a few seconds whilst stretching my back too. The rush of blood flow sometimes feels like a caffeine kick. This is only done no more than three times a week and not more than 10 seconds. It helps my back and my concentration.

One can verify online regarding my statements above the National Institute on Health and the Alzheimer’s Prevention Program.

Thanks Again,

House Hunter

Daily writing prompt
What was the last thing you searched for online? Why were you looking for it?

Being a continuous traveler with never ending curiosity, I’ve been tapping into the house market of the destination area of my last three trips on the internet. New England.

First of all, I miss seeing “old” structures and “old” trees that are a different shade of green than found in Texas. Lastly and most importantly, I miss living on or near the water which I grew up on when living in Michigan. The beautiful beaches and the beautiful old towns of Connecticut have been drawing me in.
Like Michigan, cost of living and crime are both factors on where I choose to live. Hours of research and then on sight visits are imperative to make the best decision plus trust of my instincts.

The sound of rain plus the sound of the movement of water has always made a calming impact on me. It might be that I am born under the fire sign of Sagittarius that I am drawn to the opposite of water. The heat and the hot sun drains my energy so I am always grateful when the weather gets cooler here in Texas. Thus, my desire to live near water.
Decided to move to Texas came after one visit when it was all I could afford although I believe it I did multiple trips, I am not sure that I would have moved here. Grateful though for my life here that includes my work, my house and my felines.

Truthfully, searching on the internet provides information while experiencing it in person provides food for the soul. Plus, seeing something with your own eyes can help provide a complete picture.

In Peace,

Leslie Elizabeth David.

American Bandstand/Soul Train

Daily writing prompt
What TV shows did you watch as a kid?

Besides watching the many cartoons, my parents wanted us to value the art of music. Growing up in metro Detroit, Motown Records was growing and finding talent within blocks of the their studios.

Every Saturday, me and my siblings watched, “Dick Clark’s American Bandstand,” and “Don Cornelius’s Soul Train” which I remember as a little girl singing and dancing to the music of both shows. Each show helped shaped our culture of music and fashion.

Remember some artists like Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross and others who were featured on both shows which expanded both of their fan bases. To this day, I love listening to the original artists of Motown Records before they left Detroit and moved to Los Angeles.

Grateful for the music of my childhood and of the memories created. Priceless.

Thank you,

Up With The Chickens

Daily writing prompt
What’s your favorite time of day?

As I have gotten older, my favorite and most productive time of day is in the early morning hours before work. Things are quiet in my area thus a sense of peacefulness and calmness abound.

In my younger years, it was late night and early afternoon that I reached my prime to get things done outside of work. At the time I was working on my graduate degree, it was a time of transition to meet the demands of the school while maintaining my full time job so I started getting up earlier.

Waking up around 5am suits me better so that I can accomplish things like, “sharing out,” others closets on the online platform that I use to sell items plus take time to be here to read and to learn about others who blogged. Admittedly, on the weekends, I love taking my afternoon naps

Being, “ up with the chickens,” when traveling especially with flights usually means that traffic to the airport is lighter and mainly business travelers are there thus peaceful experience. Truthfully, I rarely see families who are with young children at that time unless they are flying to Hawaii, Alaska or overseas.

After some research and not being a farmer, I learned that the chickens are normally early risers thus getting fed first on the farm. So it’s more than slang embracing facts of the life of a chicken.

Thank you for your time.

Excitement

Daily writing prompt
Tell us about the last thing you got excited about.

After getting back to work and coming home from vacation, there’s truly not much to be excited about with work and other commitments.

On my last post, it was about my experience driving through Stamford CT early in the morning headed to the airport. The adventure of it was something to remember.

My excitement/energy that I have now is that knowing sometime in the future that I will likely be moving to Milford CT about 30 minutes north of Stamford. Prior to my move to Texas, I experienced the same strong sensation which I moved to almost three years later. I stayed and I explored the area which I felt like I belonged. Wallingford and Stratford were ruled out although both are great places to live as well.

The energy/excitement feeling that I pick up comes from learning to be truly silent and picking up clues. Years ago, I told someone that I trusted my intuition but there was too much noise around me externally and internally making it impossible to even sleep at night. It took deliberate effort to remove the noise to listen to the voice inside me.

Thanks again,

Leslie Elizabeth David.

Stamford

Daily writing prompt
Tell us about the last thing you got excited about.

My latest and greatest moment that left me stunned and surprised when I drove through Stamford CT on I-95 south on my way to Westchester County Airport late last week.

My flight left at 7:45 am with one hour drive to the airport plus being advised to get there two hours early. Thought I was going to need gas for my rented 2024 Toyota RAV4 LE hybrid but didn’t. My trip to the airport from the hotel was an adventure not just a mundane commute.

Truthfully, I was totally amazed of the colorful night lights, beautiful architecture, cleanliness and safety of this city. It was so unexpected that it made an impact on me. I felt safe going through the city on
the freeway and on the local roads.

Connecticut is a State where a good portion of it is made up of bedroom communities for people who work in NYC who get to the City by train then walk to the nearest subway station to help them reach their final destination. It’s also a place of beautiful old towns with green spaces and beaches. West of I-95 is Hwy 15 that is filled with beautiful trees and lots of hills even a tunnel. The saying, “good things come in small packages,” can be applied here. Honestly, like every other State, it does have areas that aren’t safe. Those may come up later in a future post.

Happy Travels!!

Leslie Elizabeth David.

Strong Sense

After coming home from my trip just like before it, I have the strong feeling that I am moving again. This happened before when I left Michigan to Texas when I lost my longtime employment. Now, it’s being near the water to have a sanctuary of peace.

Like before, I have no idea on how it’s all going to play out so I’ll keep my Faith and live life to the fullest while trusting my intuition.

The good news is that I’ve been in touch with my realtor down here in Texas to possibly sell in the future and visited a few places on my trip plus using Zillow.

Thanks for your time,

Leslie Elizabeth David.
