Learned this by accident about a week ago of employees of some major national retailers will clock in but not actually be in the building called “Time Theft.”. Normally, the people who do this sit in their vehicle on the business property during their assigned shift. Some answer their phones while others go to voicemail.
In some cases, if the person who’s ghosting at work is a supervisor, the subordinates miss opportunities of learning and of getting to know their leader. An employee is absent of duties that is required to keep her job.
In the States, it’s Target, Walmart and others who are hit the hardest. No matter the business, stealing time and money is wrong and, likely, considered theft. Individual States and businesses likely have protocol on punishment. It’s wrong no matter what.
