Kindergarten Dreams

When you were five, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Growing up in the early 1960s, I attended kindergarten in the metro Detroit area where the auto industry was growing in sales and in processes. Plus, Motown Records was becoming known nationally for their distinct music.

Five years old with dreams of being a flight attendant, Olympic skier and a traveler on my bike. Flying on Delta from DTW to MCO opened my eyes to flying then the Winter Games for skiing and, finally, finding freedom on my bike.

In kindergarten, my dreams were huge when Detroit was forming its identity as well. Although, none came true, I’m grateful.
