The $1200 Grocery Card Scam

The commercial starts with an older retired woman who is struggling with food costs. Then, she prays and then discovers the $1200 grocery card on television. She calls and qualifies, of course. Later, she does the,”happy dance.” After she receives it, she’s thanking God in prayer. It all looks legit to viewers on the surface.

To me, my first thought was, “what’s the catch?” The catch is trading sensitive information to scammers who will drain the bank accounts of those who are on a fixed income primarily Social Security payments. Those who fall for it put themselves in danger.

My encouragement to you is to check on your elderly family members and neighbors and ask them not to respond to this latest scam.

To date, I’m not aware of any investigation into the company but television networks are happy to sell them,”air time,” to promote the scam.

Please be weary of any marketing campaign for seniors including pharmaceutical companies. Investigate yourself and check with your physician, if needed.

Thank you,

Leslie Elizabeth David.

PS. Been getting “Docusign” in my email lately. The email address from the sender was unrecognizable and looked sketchy. Block and delete which I did myself.
