The Serenity of Water

Daily writing prompt
Beach or mountains? Which do you prefer? Why?

The serenity of water was the purpose of my last trip to the east coast. In the future, I hope and pray to move to an area along the Long Island Sound within a few miles of the Connecticut shoreline to be near the beach that I found my peace.

Growing up in Michigan on an island and later, living along the coast of northern Lake Michigan, I found my peace of mind and my soul revived being near the water. Unfortunately, I haven’t found the same energy with the reservoirs found in north Texas. Plus, I don’t have plans to return to Michigan.

To me, sitting on a beach hearing the motion of the water with its waves and feeling the breeze has a remarkable impact of removing the stress and the anxiety from my life. Rain has a way of relaxing me too which it comes too rarely where I’m at now.

Realistically, I am aware of the price tag to be within ten miles of the water. Plus, recent legislation in New York City, my chosen area plans to see an increase in population putting demands on the real estate and rental properties. Grateful that I have time to see how this all plays out.

My older brother who recently moved back to a community in northern Michigan that is surrounded by water from Houston because the water has a calming impact on him too. His quality of life improved with sleeping better and a peace of mind.

Hope you find your peace whether on the water, up in the mountains or in the plains. May you have lots of opportunities to visit or have life come together so that you can live there.

Yours Truly,

Leslie Elizabeth David.
