Taking Advantage of Others

Daily writing prompt
What personality trait in people raises a red flag with you?

Yesterday, I felt like my tire was getting low although not flat plus it seemed like the front end of the vehicle was shaking. My ultra reliable Toyota Corolla was letting me down.

So, I drove down to a local franchise tire loss that isn’t a national brand for help. They “fixed” my tire that wasn’t even flat and quickly diagnosed my front end issue as suspension problems without even putting my car on the lift to confirm nor deny it. They gave me a price and wanted me to setup an appointment.

Fortunately, while I was there, they did confirm that one of my tire sensors was out. Plus, my intuition started kicking in telling them that I would refer to Toyota as what to do. Then, I paid them and left. Decided to drop off a sale to the post office which I decided that I would observe my car’s performance during the trip. The car was reacting to the less than perfect roads of little dips and other imperfections on the highway. Came home to make a 100k mile check up on my vehicle for oil change and censor replacement.

Beyond thankful that my intuition kicked in when it did saving me time and money on unnecessary changes to my car. Not pleased that I allowed myself to trust them to the point where they were going to replace a part that doesn’t need it. Truthfully, they had no problem with “cashing in” on my lack of knowledge during my visit. Believe that behavior, good or bad, comes back to each of us. Someone else in their future will hold them accountable for their actions. Don’t let anyone take advantage of you!

Thanks again,
