Menopause is defined as from the Cleveland Clinic as, “is a point in time when a person has gone twelve consecutive months without a menstrual period. Menopause is a natural part of aging and marks the end of your reproductive years. On average, menopause at age 52.”
For myself, mine occurred about three years ago at age 60 although my irregularity of menstrual periods started about 18 months prior. Personally, I am considered active at work and at home which delayed it for while. Besides the physical aspects of it, I believe that there’s emotional issues because for me, it confirms that I will never have a child of mine own. For those who have adult children and grandchildren, you are blessed. Happy that you are able to experience motherhood and being a grandmother.
Believe that as mature women, we can help younger women by sharing our experiences with our change in life such as eating healthy and being active.
What are your experiences? What would you tell your younger self? Or, that wished your Mom told you? What are you experiencing post menopausal? Being a former ACE certified fitness instructor, I believe that staying active is critical of walking, stretching, aerobics and other activities. Eat well and sleep well also to fend off illness.
Please feel free to add about your experience to help others.
Thank you,
Leslie Elizabeth David.
